Review of Double-Double at In-N-Out Burger

We were on the road recently in Ventura, California, and we jumped at the opportunity to grab a legendary In-N-Out Burger. This wasn’t a new thing for us, but some of our friends had never tried these delicious concoctions. As you cans see from the photos, we went with the Double-Double burgers. It looks like many double hamburgers you’ll find today at other fast food spots, but the taste of this burger surpasses all of them and lives up to its legendary status. You can taste the quality of this burger, as you won’t find one sitting under a heat lamp. They use fresh beef and have their own patty making factory. By focusing on burgers and not cluttering the simple menu with chicken or other options, In-N-Out can deliver the goods over and over again.

While the burger was amazing, the French Fries were average at best and the shake was nothing special. Everything here revolves around the incredible burgers.

Another thing to keep in mind is In-N-Out Burger’s not-so-secret secret menu. You’ll see from the pics above that the official menu at In-N-Out Burger is very simple. Over the years, loyal fans have order all sorts of variations and some of them have become staples for customers who goes there regularly. The company published their own guide to some of these “secret” menu items here, and here’s one of many blog posts on the topic.

If you don’t live on the West Coast you’re SOL on this one. Just make sure you try them when you head out West.

The Ultimate Car Show at Pebble Beach

I knew I was in for a treat when I traveled to Pebble Beach this past weekend with Infiniti. Any trip to the beautiful Bay Area that included a visit to the iconic Pebble Beach golf course would be memorable. But visiting during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance provided a completely unique experience. The Concours ranks as the most prestigious classic car show in the world. I was stunned by the number of beautiful cars that were on display. It’s a car enthusiast’s dream event, but anyone who appreciates great cars would have an unforgettable experience.

Infiniti took the opportunity around this event to introduce two impressive concept vehicles, including the JX Concept crossover which made its debut at an elegant evening event and the Etherea concept which was introduced for the first time in North America. The Etherea was introduced on Saturday morning on the 18th green at Pebble Beach, which would be the location for the Concours on Sunday (see photo below).

The Concours is the signature event for car enthusiasts, so all weekend we saw a virtual parade of amazing vehicles. Everywhere you turned you could spot old and new Ferraris, Bugattis, Rolls Royces, Aston Martins, Lambos and more, along with classic American cars as well. In the days leading up to Sunday, tons of vehicles we on display. One of my favorites was this 1968 Dodge Charger R/T:

Nike is going to pimp your college football team

Before their fight songs ring throughout the stadiums and they storm the fields, nine of the top college football programs in the country will lace their cleats and buckle their chin straps while donning uniquely designed, highly advanced Nike uniforms for at least one game during the upcoming 2011-12 season.

Of course, we’re still not entirely sure why Nike is turning this into such a big event. It seems like a whole lot of hoo-hah for only one game, and unless fans have the opportunity to buy their own version of these exclusive uniforms and gear, it’s hard to imagine many of them caring what their favorite teams are wearing as long as they win.

Still, the players themselves have to be pretty excited, as the Nike Pro Combat uniforms not only integrate the latest in performance innovation and design, but have been created using elements from each school’s rich history to capture their unique character. Long story short, it’s going to improve their overall game and make them look really cool doing it.

The teams selected for the honor of donning these one-of-a-kind uniforms include the United States Military Academy, Boise State University, University of Georgia, Louisiana State University, Michigan State University, the United States Naval Academy, Ohio State University, University of Oregon, and Stanford University.

The uniforms will hit the field on opening day of the 2011-12 college football season and throughout the year during some of the fiercest rivalries in the NCAA, with match-ups like Oregon vs. LSU on September 3rd, Michigan State vs. Michigan on October 15th, Ohio State vs. Wisconsin on October 29th, Stanford vs. Notre Dame on November 27th, and the annual service academy matchup between two of the nation’s most prestigious football programs – Army vs. Navy – on December 10th.

Scenes from the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance

We were thrilled to be guests of Infiniti for this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, which is one of the most prestigious classic car shows in the world. We were in Pebble Beach the entire weekend as Infiniti unveiled its JX Concept crossover and also introduced the Etherea concept for the first time in North America.

The Concours d’Elegance culminated on Sunday, and above we have a slideshow of some of the scenes from the event. It’s stunning how many rare collectibles are on display at this event, and all the cars are displayed on the 18th hole at Pebble Beach. The day starts early, as guests and media are on hand to watch as each classic car is driven onto the course as you can see in the second photo above. You can spend the entire day there admiring all the cars. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GTO so you’ll see several photos of the Ferraris above.

Entourage 8.5 – Motherfucker

After last week’s mostly uneventful episode, I was starting to get worried that this final season might end up being just a whole bunch of filler. But thankfully, there’s plenty to talk about tonight, starting with the latest development from the Vincent Chase career rehabilitation saga. Though it wasn’t totally surprising that Vince would botch his interview with the Vanity Fair reporter once he realized that she was smoking hot, I expected much worse to come from all his flirting. Instead, Vince took it upon himself to make things right, and though he did successfully smooth things over by giving a good second interview, he still had the urge to hit on her again when it was over. Vince claims that he’s in love, but this has happened too many times before for anyone to seriously believe that it’ll end any differently.

And as one Chase brother attempts to put his career back together, the other is coming dangerously close to tearing his apart. Then again, can you blame him? While Drama has tried to stick it out after Dice’s decision to walk from the show, his new replacement has become insufferable to work with, even going so far as to criticize his performance in the recording booth. Desperate to get Dice back at any cost, Drama makes the unselfish offer to give him the difference in his pay so that they would be making the same amount. Dice graciously declines, however, stating that if anyone’s going to pay him, it’ll be the network, and is confident they’re going to give in to his demands soon.

But Phil doesn’t think that’s the case, letting Drama in on the secret that the network is so pleased with his work that they’re planning to tailor the entire show around him. Granted, I thought that’s what they were doing this whole time by making a cartoon called “Johnny’s Bananas,” but I digress. Drama feels that if the network really believes in him that much, however, that they would be willing to do anything he asks, so he decides to walk from the show in an attempt to convince them that the cartoon will only be successful with Dice’s involvement. That would have been a pretty boneheaded decision a few weeks ago, but now that Drama knows what he does, it’s his best chance of saving the show. It also proves just how much he’s matured over the last eight seasons, because I don’t think a younger Drama would have done the same.
