Intense training is key for Olympic athletes

We’ve been watching the Olympic trials, so we’re looking forward to the London games. The swimming and track events will be intense. Frankly, it’s also a good motivator for all of us to get off the couch and work on our own fitness.

Here’s a cool video from Gatorade that tracks Hope Solo on her journey to the Olympic games.

Can you handle Hope Solo’s workout?

Any soccer fan, male or female, knows who Hope Solo is by now. She’s become quite the topic of interest since the Women’s World Cup. Solo has released an exclusive workout as part of the Nike Training Club app, available free from iTunes. Here are just a few of the features of the app:

• Nike Training Club (NTC) is a full-body training app that caters to every level of fitness. Whether you want to get lean, toned or strong, NTC takes functional fitness training to the next level.

• The NTC app was developed by a Nike professional trainer, with more than 60 workouts including 90+ drills built on the fundamentals of strength-, cardio- and core-training. These multi-dimensional, multi-directional drills are formulated to create workouts that continually challenge the body to maximize results.

• The NTC app is goal-oriented, with Get Lean, Get Toned and Get Strong categories there are various 15-, 30- and 45-minute workouts, at Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels.

• As of mid July 2011, the NTC app will feature a reward workout from Nike Trainer Ary Nunez that can be accessed after completing 3,000 minutes in the app through an unlock feature.

The images above showcase just a few of the workouts in Solo’s routine. If you think you can handle Hope Solo’s workout, grab the app free from the App Store.
