And no, that’s not a fat joke, but rather the latest Hanes commercial promoting their new Lay Flat Collar Undershirt. As someone who’s suffered the wrath of the Bacon Neck in the past, it’s nice to finally own a shirt that actually holds its form like it should, even if we don’t look as good as Michael Jordan. I’m not the only one getting behind the new T-shirt, either, as JetBlue recently announced a program that provides a “comfort upgrade” to all customers on overnight flights in June by giving them a complimentary Hanes Lay Flat Collar Undershirt.
Hanes is also holding a weekly drawing throughout the month on their official Facebook page for a chance to win two JetBlue round-trip travel certificates and a Hanes.com gift card. It all started with a plane crash, but in the six years since “Lost” premiered, ABC’s hit drama has become about a lot more than just a group of castaways trying to get off an island. From polar bears and smoke monsters, mysteries and revelations, and enough jumping back and forth in time to give audiences their own nosebleeds, it’s been one helluva ride. With the series finale only a few days away, however, it’s time we finally come to grips with the fact that our favorite show is ending for good.
At least it’s going out with a bang, as last Tuesday’s lead-in to the finale appears to have set the stage for what is sure to be an incredible farewell. On Earth-1, Jack has agreed to remain on the island as its new protector (while Kate, Sawyer and Hurley celebrate the fact that it isn’t them), and Smokey has devised a new plan to exploit Desmond’s superhuman resistance to electromagnetism by blowing up the whole damn island, hopefully breaking his centuries-long imprisonment in the process. And over in Earth-2 (a mirror universe that’s like some kind of “Matrix”-esque simulated reality where the Losties aren’t cognizant of their Earth-1 lives), a recently awakened Desmond has begun to dole out his own version of the red pill by jogging their memories and assembling them all together at a concert in Los Angeles. How this will tie into the lives of the surviving Losties on the island remains the biggest question of all, but I think it’s safe to assume that it’s one the writers plan to answer before it’s over.

ABC will also be airing the original two-hour pilot Saturday night, a two-hour preview show Sunday before the finale, and a special edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” directly after. When we learned that the folks at “Saturday Night Live” had decided to transform the “MacGruber” sketches into a feature-length motion picture, our first reaction was excitement, but it quickly dwindled somewhat when we considered the track record of movies which were inspired by sketches or short films on “SNL.” As the “MacGruber” release date grew ever closer, however, we began to do a little more research into the whole “SNL”-film phenomenon, and we realized that the chances of getting a legitimately great comedy are actually a little bit better than we thought. Not that much better, mind you…I mean, after all, you can’t just grant a free pass to a franchise that’s given us “It’s Pat”…but when you factor in the film inspired by the animated adventures of a grumpy, mumbling gentleman named Milton, for a brief moment, you can almost forgive them for “Superstar.”

Despite a near tumble in her evening gown, Rima Fakih, Miss Michigan for 2010, was crowned Miss USA on Sunday. Fakih won the competition after swimsuit, evening gown, and interview competitions. During the interview portion of the event, Fakih expressed her belief that birth control should be covered by health insurance.
Fakih will replace North Carolina’s Kristen Dalton as Miss USA, taking away a one-year lease for an apartment in New York, living expenses, health and beauty services, and an undisclosed salary. When asked about the win, Fakih said only, “Ask me after I’ve had a pizza.”

Sorry, I started thinking about Cerie’s wardrobe, and my train of thought kind of jumped the track for a minute there.
