2013 Cadillac ATS Revealed in Detroit

2013 Cadillac ATS Revealed in Detroit

Bullz-Eye.com was invited to the 2013 Cadillac ATS presentation last night at the College for Creative Studies and we have to say that we walked away very impressed. The ATS is Cadillac’s answer to foreign automakers’ compact luxury sedans that have dominated this segment for many years. The ATS will launch this summer and Cadillac obviously has high hopes for the ATS as it will be competing in the largest segment of the luxury market, so the potential here is enormous. Along with a sleek and modern look, the ATS promises the desired performance from buyers in the compact luxury universe and that is partially because Cadillac looked at every material that went into the ATS and came away with a curb weight under 3400 lbs.

Depending on each individual buyer’s preference of the top fuel economy or all out power, you have a choice of three powertrains starting with a 200-hp 2.5-liter four-cylinder that should produce over 30 mpg on the highway, a confident 270-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, or for those who want the power, there is a 318-hp 3.5-liter V6. Cadillac also went one step further by offering a manual transmission and optional all-wheel drive to the rear wheel drive platform. Pricing hasn’t been announced and believe me when I tell you we tried to find out, but we do know this segment’s current leaders start in the low 30k range and we expect something close for the 2013 Cadillac ATS.

I have to say that the 2013 Cadillac ATS made a strong first impression with us, and if the performance of this new luxury compact from Cadillac hits the mark, we look for thousands of new buyers coming into dealerships to give the ATS a drive. This segment is about much more than looks, and after hearing from GM North American President Mark Reuss and the other GM executives that presented the all-new ATS, they totally understand their potential customers and designed the ATS to “win” rather than just compete!

Rockport x Barbour Fall 2011 Collaboration Boots

We were lucky enough to test a pair of Rockport x Barbour limited edition collaboration boots in the Break Trail Cap Toe design. The line will launch December 2011 as this is Rockport’s second collaboration with Barbour for footwear (they did their first collaboration last Fall 2010 season) and they expanded their collaboration to include three styles in multiple colorways.

These are great gifts for the style conscious guy this holiday season as they can be worn to parties or outdoors. They are really that versatile! Along with the upscale design, Rockport added adiPRENE by adidas to create a stylish yet completely walkable boot. For this special collection, they also used suede leather from CF Stead which is one of the most respected tanners of suede leather in the world. Get them on your shopping list now as these Rockport x Barbour designs can be found at Bloomingdale’s, Paragon Sports (NY), The Tannery (Boston), Zappos.com and many other specialty retailers around the US.

Rockport Lux Lodge Boots Review

Rockport Lux Lodge Boots

With winter fast approaching, it’s about that time to get your gear ready for the freezing lements. One key component to not only staying warm in the colder months but also keeping a sense of style is having the right winter boots. Well, we have good news for all of our readers out there searching for warm and stylish boots as we just reviewed the new Lux Lodge boots from Rockport, and we were impressed. These great looking boots will be worn by the staff at the Aspen Snowmass ski resorts this winter season and Bullz-Eye.com can certainly understand this choice after testing the Lux Lodges. The Lux Lodge boots sport a padded collar and tongue to help prevent blisters and lace bruising; upper reflective details that promotes safety in the dark (ideal for nighttime walking); and waterproof full-grain leather that helps keep your feet dry and makes them easy to clean and extends product life.

These are also very comfortable boots, and part of the reason why is technonolgy including EVA with adidas adiPRENE, which is a highly shock-absorbent cushioning that protects the heel at impact, CMEVA which provides lightweight shock absorption for reducing foot and leg fatigue, and a rubber outsole that provides a durable grip on a variety of surfaces. Keeping your feet warm and dry is something Rockport invested in the new Lux Lodge’s with 3M Thinsulate lightweight insulation that helps keep feet warm in cold weather, and the impressive Hydro-Shield waterproofing substances that are tanned into the leather consisting of a special seam sealant which helps keep feet dry in wet weather.

Now, what was also impressive is the reaction from folks who commented on the sleek styling of the Lux Lodges, which is basically a huge bonus when you consider how effective they are in keeping your feet warm and dry and extremely comfortable while in the cold. Looking good is always important, and though staying warm is number one when you’re in freezing conditions, style was obviously still very high on the list at Rockport with the Lux Lodge. Hooters 15th Annual International Swimsuit Pageant a huge success

Hooters 15th Annual International Swimsuit Pageant

It’s quite an understatement to say that there were hot girls poolside at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach for the week leading up to the Hooters 15th Annual International Swimsuit Pageant. An even 100 girls from around the world were mingling and doing the ultimate conga line while networking and chatting with anyone who approached them. This was ground zero for swimsuit hotties. With her aqua marine eyes, the bluest in all the land, Fort Lauderdale’s own Lindsey Way was selected out of the 100 Hooters Girl contestants to take the impressive $50,000 prize. She will represent Hooters for the next year as Miss Hooters International 2011.

The Pageant was held at the Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach. Dan Cortese hosted the event with a celebrity panel of judges including television personality Leeann Tweeden, Dallas Mavericks star Shawn Marion; UFC Octagon Girl Arianny Celeste, actor Verne Troyer and the Only Female Scout in the NBA, model Bonnie-Jill Laflin.

Bullz-Eye was again offered the opportunity to have near-exclusive online media coverage of this remarkable event. We were allowed access to some of the top girls prior to the pageant for photoshoots on the lavish Fontainebleau grounds during the Bud light Pre pageant welcome party. Special thanks goes out to Mike Harris and Brian Dunlap of Anheuser Busch for the assistance in their pool side cabana, and to Rachel Kelly for styling of the lovely Hooters models. Also, special thanks once again to Alexis Aleshire for all the invaluable PR assistance!

The top five winners included: 1st Runner Up, Janet Layug, Hooters of North Lakeland, Florida; 2nd Runner Up Sam Arena, Hooters of Cumberland in Atlanta; 3rd Runner Up Alex Dumrauf from Hooters of Clearwater; 4th Runner Up, Chelsie Hurst, Hooters of Saginaw, Michigan. Rounding out the top ten finalists in no particular order are Crystal Cunningham, Hooters of Downtown Nashville; Victoria Brown, Hooters of Baltimore; Casey Luckey, Hooters of South Lakeland, Florida; Juliete Cabrera, Hooters of Doral in Miami, and Afton Storton, Hooters of Anaheim. Lina Nguyen, from Downtown Toronto, was selected as Miss Hooters World, representing Hooters 29 international markets.

Check out the incredible slideshow above of photos from the pageant finals. We start with a photo of the winner, Miss Hooters International 2011 Lindsey Way, along with a photo of her with the other finalists, and then we go through the pageant from beginning to end with tons of beautiful Hooters girls. Make sure you also check back for more photos from the preliminary events along with some great photo profiles of the winner Lindsey Way, and the other contestants we met at the Fontainebleau.
