Product Review: TwinLuxe Grooming Products

One of the tensest moments in the seminal 80s classic movie “Predator” is the scene where Sergeant Mac Eliot shaves his face in the jungle, sans shaving cream, with a cheap plastic razor while awaiting an encounter with the Predator.

For years, that one scene impacted the way I shaved my face. If it felt any better than the way it looked, I assumed I wasn’t doing it right. The act of dragging cold metal across dry, fractured skin in an effort to remove facial hair is the manliest thing there is — how in the world could it be pleasurable? And if it was, was I even doing it right?  Hence, stumbling blindly through mediocre shaving products for years, and even knowing full well that I was doing it.

TwinLuxe is redesigning the concepts of shaving and men’s skin care together, at the same time, with a line of products to bring pleasure back to the shaving ritual. The TwinLuxe line is comprised of seven different skin care products. I received three of them: Smooth Shave Cream, Booster Serum and Renewing Face Wash & Scrub. The bottles themselves looked clean and sleek and hinted at the experience that was to come. There was a distinct order to applying the following products which I followed diligently.

Product Review: Hairbond

We were recently contacted by the folks at Hairbond, where all the products are designed and manufactured in the UK. According to a Hairbond press release the company “bases its brand on luxury, style and ‘Britishness’, positioning itself as a top of the line professional brand with top quality hair grooming products. Hairbond provides young, urban, cosmopolitan, working men with a touch of luxury in their hair grooming routine and are the brand that corresponds to the lifestyle and aspirations of young, successful and demanding men. Experienced hair stylist Scott Michaels founded Hairbond after growing tired of what are about to become his competitors.” That had our expectations pretty darn high. This bloke was looking forward to testing these men’s hair styling waxes and find out if they live up to the hype.

First and foremost, the clear containers for the Moulder and Sculptor products looked extraordinary. I first tried the Hairbond Moulder Professional Hair Shaper, which creates separations with a matte finish. The Moulder boasts a strong flexible hold that gives immediate grab and high density texture while thickening your hair’s appearance. Hairbond Moulder worked like a charm and the red apple and pineapple scents were right on.

Next up was the Sculptor Professional Hair Putty, which is soft and gives great texture to one’s hair while also providing great finish on dry hair. Sculptor is perfect for guys who want to achieve the wet look and the sweet apple fragrance is great insurance to keep your lady friend happy!

Overall, Hairbond is a great line of products because the company shares your desire to be your best. I found both products to be as good as advertised and that’s a real pleasure these days.

Review: Frederick Benjamin Grooming Products

We recently received product from Frederick Benjamin Grooming and we were happy to give them a look. What came to us was a very nice package containing Shampoo, Conditioner and Daily Hydrator. The sleek white bottles with orange and silver accents had upscale looks and I was looking forward to using these three products.

The Frederick Benjamin Shampoo had a refreshing scent and was very thick so no need to overdue the amount needed. The company states that the shampoo is an invigorating cleanser that rinses excess oil, tingles the scalp and unclogs pores. Again, the scent smells so good I would buy it just for that alone! Moving next to the Frederick Benjamin Conditioner that is also an invigorating moisturizer and it worked well into my hair. The conditoner does well to combat dry scalp and hair and left my hair looking damn good and feeling plenty soft according to my bride! I then took it one more step and applied the Frederick Benjamin Daily Hydrator which you leave in and I did just that. The Hydrator added texture to mair hair and was grease free which is a must for my hair.

Overall the Frederick Benjamin hair products we reviewed were all very well received here at Bullz-Eye.com and BarberShopBlog.com and at aorund $12 each they are priced better than other salon preferred hair products.
