Ben Affleck is a well-known poker and blackjack player. The actor and director has been banned from playing blackjack at multiple casinos around the US, mainly for card counting which, although is not illegal, can lead players to getting thrown out. The actor checked himself into rehab in 2001 as a way to help his gambling addiction, but in 2004, he won the California State Poker Championship. In 2014, despite his acting career performing well, with his movie “Gone Girl” receiving critical acclaim, his performance at the casinos weren’t quite so successful. In late April of 2014, Affleck was supposedly asked to leave due to supposedly being caught using a card counting system, and this later led to a lifetime ban. In June, he was again caught using a blackjack card counting strategy and was supposedly kicked out from Caesar’s Windsor.

Tobey Maguire

The former “Spider-Man” actor was a known poker player who regularly played alongside friends Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. In 2004, Maguire took up tournament poker and can be seen on ESPN’s coverage of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event Championships. According to Molly Bloom, the woman who played hostess to the rich and famous at high stakes poker games, Maguire was a bad loser despite being a great player. It is also reported that he was sued over winnings that he had gained from a convicted fraudster at high stakes poker matches.

Jennifer Tilly

Canadian actress Jennifer Tilly now plays poker more than she acts, supplementing her living through playing high stakes poker games. In 2005, Tilly won the World Series of Poker Ladies’ No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em Event bracelet in 2005, beating 600 other players, and continued this success by later winning the third World Poker Tour Ladies Invitational Tournament. Tilly and her partner Phil Laak (an Irish-American professional poker player and commentator) are arguably the most famous pair on the poker circuit with a combined tournament winnings so far of over $4 million.

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods is known as quite a high-roller at casinos and is routinely betting and losing massive amounts of money at blackjack tables. It has been reported that he can throw up to $200,000 per hand, which may seem like a lot but is actually next to nothing considering his net worth is over $1 billion. Woods has supposedly been a lover of casinos since he was 20 years old (apparently he was caught using a fake ID to get into the casinos). Throughout his career as a golfer, it was reported that Woods used gambling as a part of his relaxation process throughout his professional career.
