Men have always been criticized for their lack of participation during their partner’s pregnancy. This does not mean that they are unsupportive. Men tend to be absent not because they don’t care, but simply because they honestly have no clue what to do. If you are a man looking for some advice to be your wife’s pregnancy partner, then here are some things that you need to be prepared for.

1. She Will Be Sensitive

It’s the hormones, brothers, it’s the hormones. Just think of pregnancy as the longer – and nastier – version of PMS. Your partner will be going through a range of emotions, most of them negative. During such situations, it is best to stay away. Do not ask her if you could help since it will result in a traditional “No one can help me” monologue. So, sit there and listen to her lament. Remember that the key to being a supportive husband during pregnancy is, “Less talking. More listening.”

2. She Will Look Different

You might already know about the baby bump. But do know that your wife will also put on weight in other areas, including her face, arms, breasts and even on her fingers! Her skin will seem blemished and her hair will get thicker. If you notice these changes, do NOT point them out. This is the worst mistake that you can make. Your partner will already be worried about her appearance. In this case, do not rub it in by commenting on the changes. Instead, try to be supportive. For instance, buy her maternity clothes in Calgary before she asks you to do so. Opt for light colors and soft fabrics instead of choosing dark, rough materials. This will show that you are honestly concerned about her comfort and convenience.

3. She Will Eat a Lot

Remember that she is eating for two people. So, stop giving those judgmental looks and let the woman eat. Your partner’s hunger will be random. She will not eat much in one sitting. Rather, she will begin to eat more frequently, so make sure to keep the fridge stocked. Make sure to keep this fact in mind when you shop for clothes. When visiting Edmonton, maternity clothes will need to be purchased in the right size. Do not purchase body-fit clothes since her body will keep changing by the day.

4. She Will Say No

Some men believe that pregnancy means no more sex. Do know that this is nothing but a common misconception. Although sex during pregnancy is no issue at all, remember that your partner might not be up for it all the time. There are times when she will think of you as Johnny Depp’s clone and times where she will think of you as Luis Guzman’s doppelganger. Figure out what she wants and whether she wants it or not before you get any ideas.

Understand the truth that every woman is different. Thus, every pregnancy is different too. Your wife might not put on weight or feel hungry all the time, so just go with the flow like you always do.
