Does this sound familiar: You haven’t looked forward to going to work in a long time. You don’t have the sense of contributing to society, and you feel like your weeks, months, and years at your job are beginning to blend together. If this is happening to you, you may want to start thinking about getting a new job. Here are four signs that you need a new career.
You’re Bored

If you feel you’re going through the motions from the time you clock in until the time you clock out, you’re probably bored with your job. It’s not exciting for you, and it doesn’t provide with incentive to get up and go every day. It’s time to reevaluate your career. Have you been in your field too long? Is it time to change fields altogether or time to try moving up in your current job? If you enjoy the company you work for but feel you need to move up your position, think about getting your MBA. With an online MBA program, you could earn your degree during your off hours and use it to move up the ladder at your company.
You’re Stressed
Do you feel stress the moment your alarm clock goes off? If you’re regretting getting up and going to work, it’s time to look into changing jobs. No job is perfect, but if you feel stress just thinking about going to work, then it’s time to look elsewhere. Think about what you really want to do. Are you happy with your current job, or do you want to change fields? You may enjoy the field you’re in but need to apply it to a different type of job that won’t stress you out every morning. Determine what your transferable skills are and what types of jobs you could apply for with them.
You Have No Passion
Even if you don’t mind going to your job day-in and day-out, you lack passion for it. You may not necessarily be bored, but you certainly aren’t excited about what you’re doing. If you lack passion in your job, sooner or later, you may just want to give up. We need passion to tap into our true potential and feel as if we are making a difference. If you notice you lack passion for your current job, you should start thinking about what you are passionate about. Look into other jobs in your field that will fill your potential.
You Don’t Like Your Coworkers
Sometimes something as simple as not liking the people you work with or for can be enough to incite you to find a new job. You may not need to find a whole new career, but if there’s a lot of tension at your current office, you should start to look around for other places you can use your skills. Finding a healthy work environment is important for your mental, emotional, and physical health.
If you’re unhappy with your current job, step back and look at your options. Changing jobs or even careers could be the key to finding happiness at work again.
