UFC 189 fight preview – July 11th 2015

The Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC) will bring to a close their annual ‘Fight Week’ with the highly anticipated pay per view fight night on July 11th 2015.

The night will feature a Championship double header between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor, as both fight to try and clinch the featherweight crown.

This fight will then be followed up by the battle for welterweight’s promotion strap as Robbie Lawler takes on Rory MacDonald.

The venue for the event has been set with the fighters heading to the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with a full house expected on the night.

Although heavier weight classes usually take the limelight in the event of a UFC championship double header, officials for the night have said Aldo vs. McGregor will serve as the main event for viewers to enjoy.

Celebrities’ Favorite Casino Games

The attraction of casino games is universal. Taking one’s place at the table provides a jolt of excitement; the games are fun to play, and the prospect of a big win is appealing to players of all levels.

For centuries, casinos have been popular destinations for celebrities and “regular” people alike. In the late 1800s it was not uncommon for tourists to go to the casino in the hope of spotting the “stars” of the time, which included authors like Dostoyevsky, musicians like Johann Strauss, and even the future King of England, who played under an assumed name and sometime in disguise. Business tycoons and European nobility often tested their luck at the various popular games of the time.

Today, casinos are still a favorite haunt of celebrities, but thanks to mass media and the internet, it is far easier for us to spot them.

Suffering Seahawks and super creepy sharks: the Super Bowl in sum

It’s one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the year, and this year, Super Bowl 49 did not fail to impress.

After rising through the ranks in 2014 and managing to be crowned Super Bowl champions last year, the Seattle Seahawks looked set to take the coveted title once again this year, particularly thanks to their dependable Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson.

However, it seems that this year the Seahawks were no match for Tom Brady, who, despite rumors of retirement, managed to carry the New England Patriots to their 28-24 victory.

After starting out losing to the Patriots, things were looking up for the Seahawks when they were one yard out from a touchdown. Just four points behind the Patriots, the dependable running back Marshawn Lynch had the simple task of running with the ball to score their much needed touchdown.

Brady’s Legacy Cemented By Defense

With the win in Super Bowl 49, Tom Brady’s legacy got cemented forevermore. No matter what comes of the DeflateGate investigation, Brady will still have four Super Bowl trophies and three MVPs in the big game. People can attach any kind of mental asterisk to the Patriots’ accomplishments, but those players and coaches are champions once again and that won’t be erased from the record books.

Even if Tom Brady had failed in this sixth attempt in the Super Bowl, he was already a legend. He had three world titles, two Super Bowl MVP awards, and endless regular season success. But in a ‘what have you done for me lately society’, we always want our athletes to do more. A fourth Super Bowl ring would erase any doubt about Brady’s greatness since he would join Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw as the only other QBs with that many Super Bowl Titles.

Will Gronk rule on Sunday?

One of the dumbest things I’ve heard in sports was said several years ago. The New England Patriots were rolling to another inevitable Super Bowl appearance as Tom Brady was carving up defenses. Then Rob Gronkowski got hurt, and people naturally wondered what impact that would have on the Patriots offense. I was stunned at the time when many so-called experts said the Patriots could easily overcome that loss and continue to dominate. Of course the opposite happened and the Patriots were on their couches for the Super Bowl.
