Highly Anticipated 2017 Movies We May See Flop

There’s denying that 2017 is going to be filled with some wonderful films, including a number of superhero sequels, movies starring Dwayne Johnson and other highly-anticipated titles. However, with so many great films scheduled for release, it’s inevitable that some are going to flop. It’s not easy trying to launch a blog and talk about movies, but even people that are just starting to blog on the subject think that these will flop.

“Jumanji”

“Jumanji” will debut at the end of the year and has a really strong cast. However, this sequel to the 1995 original, which has an interesting storyline about kids getting trapped in a video game with big-name celebrity avatars, may end up flopping for a very simple reason: the movie is going up against “Star Wars: Episode VIII,” which will surely see waves of fans running to the cinema to see it. Any movie that goes up against “Star Wars” doesn’t have a chance.

“Baywatch”

Unfortunately, this is the second movie on the list starring Dwayne Johnson, who may be headed for a pretty bad year in 2017. Teaming the actor with Zac Efron may not be enough, either, since people that watched the original “Baywatch” series are no longer interested in a remake. Though the movie may end up being a good adventure comedy, that remains to be seen.

“Ghost in the Shell”

Any movie with Scarlett Johansson can be a hit, and the fact that it’s based on a highly popular Japanese anime suggests that success is guaranteed. However, making a movie based on a Japanese anime and expecting it to be successful all around the world is tough, because there will surely be people who don’t embrace the American version of the classic “Ghost in the Shell” film.

“The Dark Tower”

Matthew McConaughey movies are either great or really bad. “The Dark Tower” will most likely fall into the latter category. The plot details are murky, and the future of the property (either as a movie trilogy or TV series) are just as unclear. Nobody is really certain what the idea was behind this movie, so who knows what to expect? Many people expect this movie to be a success, but given the many problems mentioned, the possibility that it flops seem much higher.

“Power Rangers”

Although “Power Rangers” was a hugely popular series years ago, the movie reboot will most likely flop hard. The story about five ordinary kids that become superheroes and receive great powers, chosen by destiny and so on, is something that worked many years ago. However, it likely won’t be as great now, because people are kind of tired of movies like this.
