Seeing Kobe a Final Time? Here’s Our Checklist to Make Your Trip Better

It’s official, one of the greatest players the NBA has ever seen is taking to the court for the last time this season. In April the Staples Center in Los Angeles will play host to Kobe Bryant’s final game, and there will undoubtedly be millions of people tuning in just to catch a glimpse of the action. In the meantime there are basketball fans stumbling over themselves to secure tickets to see a true legend of the sport, and if you’re one of the lucky ones who will be travelling to stadiums in places like Texas, Arizona, California and more then you’ll want to make it the trip of a lifetime. Here are some things to remember in order to enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Custom Kobe Bryant jersey

No self-respecting Kobe fan can attend the legend’s final games without wearing a custom jersey with his name on the back. If you don’t have one then make sure you hurry, as this will be the last season you can buy a Kobe jersey without people telling you to get a grip and stop living in the past. Whether you get the home or away jersey is completely up to you, but you can probably leave the Lakers shorts at the store.

Keep details safe

All joking aside, the most important thing to remember on any trip is to keep your personal documents safe and secure. Your tickets and travel information should be scanned and emailed to yourself, so you have a backup in case of an accident. If you’re travelling by plane then make sure you write your name on all luggage labels so even if there’s a mix-up at the airline then you have a chance of seeing your bags again.

Spread out your valuables

One golden rule of travel is to spread your valuables around, so that all of your expensive items are in different places. This means if you lose your bank card, you’ll still have your credit card to fall back on and you won’t be trying to get to the stadium without any cash.

Research places to eat

Sports stadiums are amazing, but sometimes they don’t always offer the best types of food. Expensive burgers and hot dogs might suit some people, but if you want to explore the surroundings a little bit then do some research for some of the best restaurants or bars in the area. Most places are guaranteed to be packed on game day so try to book beforehand.

Choose your accommodation wisely

You’re probably going to find that most of the hotels around the stadium are fully booked up, but you don’t always want to stay at these. They can get very busy and the prices will probably be much higher due to the fact that there’s a game on. It might be a good idea to look a bit further afield in order to get a better deal, and you’ll be able to explore a bit more of the city as well.

If you keep these points in mind then you should be able to enjoy a great trip watching Kobe strut his stuff on the court. Those of you travelling from overseas should also make sure you get your travel documents sorted sooner rather than later, such as an ESTA application service. After that’s all sorted then you can relax and take in the great atmosphere, just don’t be too upset if Kobe ends up on the losing side!
