Texting Trouble: Celebrity Phone Scandals and Stories

Have you ever sent a text message and then regretted it later? Do you wish you had not sent a certain someone a certain picture? It’s happened to a lot of us at one time or another. For everyday people, an ill-considered text message can be mighty embarrassing, but the general public doesn’t usually find out about it. When celebrities’ imprudent texts and sexts are revealed, the whole world finds out in a hurry.

Here are some of the craziest (and most embarrassing) celebrity sexting and texting scandals, ever:

Naughty, Naughty

Did you happen to see songstress Christina Aquilera’s naked bod on the internet in 2010? A whole lot of people did. They saw an identifying scar, too. When near-nude pics of the blonde chanteuse surfaced, Christine’s handlers claimed the racy pics were stolen from her stylist’s computer.

Remember when Emily Maynard was The Bachelorette? Remember when Jef Holm won her heart, and the competition, too? Neither do we. What’s most memorable about their short-lived engagement is when Jef decided to steal a peek at his Emily’s phone messages. Turned out his bride-to-be had been sexting an Oakland Raiders quarterback.

Football player Ashley Cole should have known better than to believe his sexy texts to and from busty model Sonia Wild would go unnoticed. When Ashley’s wife, X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, found the steamy messages, he claimed that a teammate “borrowed” his phone and used it for x-rated conversations. Sure, Ashley. We believe you. Not.

Rated X Files

Never mind X Files star David Duchovny’s self-proclaimed sexual compulsions. What wrecked his relationship with Tea Leoni in 2008 was the discovery of his wife’s red hot history of spicy sexting with Oscar winning actor Billy Bob Thornton.

Actress Sandra Bullock and Jesse James seemed like the perfect Hollywood couple, right? Wrong. Their marriage went belly up when Michelle “Bombshell” McGee revealed a series of sexy texts she exchanged with Mr. Bullock.

World-famous golfers should not send dirty messages to strippers, if they want to keep their home life happy. When Tiger Woods’ erotic exchanges with Joslyn James came to light, wife Elin Nordegren packed up her Gucci bags and left the devious duffer for good.

Guess what. Joslyn James was not Tiger’s only online mistress. Turns out that Rachel Uchitel was sexting him, too. Rachel was a busy girl that year. When her super-hot messages to and from Bones actor David Boreanz were exposed, it tanked his relationship with Jaime Bergman. Seems his pet name for raunchy Rachel was “Puma.”

Do you remember the big fight between Rihanna and Chris Brown? Sources now say that that unfortunate brouhaha may have been triggered when Brown’s former manager sent the recalcitrant rapper messages inviting him to “hook up later.”

Guys, please assume that your girlfriend will eventually look through your cell phone messages. Ryan Phillipe would have done well to heed that advice, but he didn’t. When Reese Witherspoon found Ryan’s sexy texts with co-star Abbie Cornish, Reese kicked him to the curb.

It wasn’t many years ago that Vanessa Hudgens was the darling of the Disney corporation. All that ended in 2007, when the High School Musical actress’s nude pics made their way off her phone and onto the internet. The actress later said it was the worst moment of her career.

Kanye, Kanye, Kanye. Are you ever going to behave yourself? In 2010, a number of women went public with explicit pics they’d received from the egotistical rap star. Kanye later bragged about the incident in his song “Runaway.”

The Internet is Forever

Never assume the nude pics you send to your honey will remain private. Phones and computers are just too easy to hack into. That’s exactly what happened with a number of racy pics that actress Scarlett Johansson sent to her then-spouse, Ryan Reynolds in 2011. Google it right, and you can still find those sexy pics online.

Did you see the topless pics of 2 Broke Girls actress Kat Dennings? If not, you’re one of the few who missed a glimpse of her ample assets. Evidently, the budding thespian flashed her webcam, and the pics somehow made their way to phones and devices worldwide. Once pics are online, they are online always.

At least former Disney starlet Miley Cyrus was 18 when a slew of nudie shots circled the globe via WiFi devices everywhere. The provocative pics were supposedly snapped by a professional photographer friend of everyone’s favorite wild child.

Is there a lesson here? Not really. Celebrities love attention and sometimes, they get a lot more adulation than they ever expected.
