Coming Soon: A Moviegoer’s Guide to March

“Get Hard”

Who: Will Ferrell, Kevin Hart, Alison Brie, T.I. and Matt Walsh
What: When millionaire James King is arrested for fraud and bound for San Quentin, he turns to Darnell Lewis to prep him for life in prison.
When: March 27th
Why: There isn’t a hotter comedian in the business right now than Kevin Hart, so who better to team him up with than someone who was in that very same position not so long ago? Granted, Will Ferrell isn’t as relevant as he used to be, but like his “Get Hard” co-star, the “SNL” alum has a larger-than-life personality that spills out onto the big screen. That may be too much crazy, so to speak, for one film (usually, you pair a straight man with a wild card like Hart or Ferrell), but “Get Hard” has such a delightfully wacky premise that it might just work.

“While We’re Young”

Who: Ben Stiller, Naomi Watts, Amanda Seyfried and Adam Driver
What: A middle-aged couple’s career and marriage are overturned when a disarming young couple enters their lives.
When: March 27th
Why: Noah Baumbach used to make good films, but ever since 2010’s “Greenberg,” the director has been on a downward slide creatively. His latest movie is yet another peek behind the veil of NYC hipsters, only instead of focusing on an entitled, twenty-something loser like in “Frances Ha,” it’s about a whiny, middle-aged couple that wants to be friends with people like her. I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a comedy, a drama or both, but “While We’re Young” looks about as enthralling as watching paint dry. And when your actors are playing the same basic characters from earlier films, you know things are beginning to get stale.
