You left out Lasse Hallström. He directed all of ABBA’s videos and went to direct “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”, “The Cider House Rules”, “My Life as a Dog”, etc.

What about Valerie Dayton and Jonathan Faris? They did the outstanding “1979″ and “Tonight Tonight” for The Smashing Pumpkins as well as a bevy of amazing videos for The Red Hot Chili Peppers including “Californication” and “Otherside.” They’re made their film breakthrough with “Little Miss Sunshine.” They almost won an Oscar for it.

For what it’s worth, this piece would’ve been longer if yours truly had been able to take time out from Fall TV Preview stuff to contribute. As it is, I think David did an outstanding job…and, besides, there’s always going to be a favorite that was omitted. Tarsem Singh was definitely bandied about as a possible inclusion, though, for what it’s worth.

I’m surprised not to see Tarsem Singh on your list. Started with music videos including the award winning “Losing my Religion” by REM. He moved on to commercials and then debuted with The Cell and recently The Fall, both good films I might add.

Great list & well written but a few guys like Antoine Fuqua, Paul Thomas Anderson, David Kellogg, Dominic Sena, Kevin Bray, Gore Verbinski & Marcus Nispel aren’t even mentioned.
